Its been too long since i posted in this blog! I’d love to say that its because I have been busy doing Zeppelin type stuff, but in reality, it isnt!

I went on tour with my friends band taking photos in Los Angeles, Arizona and Las Vegas, The Whiskey Syndicate! And had a blast… but thats not the whole reason ihavent posted for so long… no, thats because I am lazy!

I dont much know whats going on with Zeppelin as we speak, apart from John Paul Jones has teamed up with Dave Grohl and Josh Homme to bring us “Them Crooked Vultures"… They are coming to the UK shortly, and i tried to get tickets but they sold out in less than 20 minutes at the Birmingham Academy :(

Gutted, I was/am!

I’ll try and find out what else is going on, but the number one point of interest is that there is no led zeppelin tour planned for 2009 at all, and not for 2010 either! :(

I got this book on release day, and I’m afraid to say i have been far too busy to get all the way through it… but i am into the 3rd chapter, so i can wrap up the first 2 atleast…

It is, So far, amazing to read… it is absolutely in depth and takes it right from the start… the nitty gritty of how Zeppelin formed. Who was going to be the Led Zeppelin lineup. How Jeff Beck had the same song on his truth album as Jimmy put on “Led Zeppelin"… where most of the songs came from, which were orignal and which were “creatively edited"… only into the 3rd chapter I’m hooked, what an insight…

I just wish i had more time to read the rest!

My advice would be, get this book!

When Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones tour, it will not be as LED ZEPPELIN. Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham will not be enough to use the legendary name Led Zeppelin, a spokesperson for Page has said.

Jones revealed last month that the former Led Zeppelin stars planned to tour minus their frontman after Robert Plant ruled himself out of any further performances.

When asked about the collaboration, an unnamed spokesperson for Page’s management company, Qprime, told Rolling Stone: “Whatever this is, it is not Led Zeppelin. Not without the involvement of Robert Plant.”

…without plant.

Basically what i said a few posts ago, he doesnt agree that it would be Led Zeppelin without Plant. and rightly so!

Led Zeppelin should not go on tour using their original name without singer Robert Plant, promoter Harvey Goldsmith has said.

Plant announced last month that he would not tour for at least two years, and his other bandmates are auditioning for a new frontman to perform in future live shows.

Mr Goldsmith, who has promoted the band in the past, including their one-off show at the O2 Arena last year, said that even if Plant agreed to go on tour, it would not be the right move for the band.

He said: “If they’re going out with another singer it’s not exactly Led Zeppelin, and if it is, then them doing a long tour, I’m not sure what the point is because they don’t need to do it.

“I think they should do something as Led Zeppelin but I think doing a long tour around the world, like the Rolling Stones did, I don’t know that would work.

“They’re one of the few lucky bands that don’t need to tour. They need to do something new and innovative that would turn them on.

“As far as I’m aware there’s no Led Zeppelin tour. Whatever the rest of the band want to do with other musicians is up to them.”

According to Metal Hammer Magazine:

Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has added fuel to the rumour that Led Zeppelin are set to tour in 2009 without their iconic frontman Robert Plant.

Speaking at Mason’s Guitar Show in Exeter this past weekend, Jones was asked about who would be singing for Led Zeppelin if they were to tour in 2009 and he answered “As soon as we know who it is, we’ll let you know who it is.”

Jones also seemed to all but confirm that Led Zeppelin would be touring in the near future and that even if Plant isn’t going to be involved now, he might choose to “in a few years”.

If rumours are to be believed, Led Zeppelin will be replacing Robert Plant with Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy.

Well, what do we think?

is this going to happen?

Plant seems pretty set against the tour…

whilst i havent been reading into this too much (for a multitude of reasons, the main ones being: i fulfilled my ambition of seeing Led Zeppelin, and although it would be AWESOME to see another Led Zeppelin Show, I mean the atmosphere was electic and the whole show was spot on for me… i wouldnt want to see a show that wasnt as good as the show i saw them on last time… I know Zeppelin are an awesome band, but i also know of past misadventures that have happened… live aid anyone? I would rather they leave it on a high note, and rather, i’d like to leave it on a high note…

Of course, if a tour did commence, i’d be there like a shot! but part of me hopes they dont do one… ofcourse, the selfish part of me wants to have been to the last “Led Zeppelin” gig ever! what an attribute… but still, thats being selfish! )

So i havent been reading up on the tour, partially for those reasons, and alot because i havent been in the frame of mind for music… now i feel different…

So i will go through what i have found out and what i am finding out as i find it :)

So far the following has happened…

As of September 26th… NME wrote the following:

Led Zeppelin are planning a full tour for next summer, with singer Robert Plant set to rejoin the band, according to reports in The Sun today (September 26).

Despite their massively-successful reunion gig at London’s O2 Arena last winter, the band have so far declined to confirm whether they will plan any more shows together.

Initially, it was believed that singer Plant was against a full tour with the band.

However, today’s report claims that Plant is now ready to join guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham in rehearsals for a tour set to start next summer.

An unnamed source told the newspaper: “He [Plant] realised he couldn’t face the thought of not being involved. The band were over the moon when he told them the news.”

Although… it seems to have been unfolded since that not only has Plant not agreed, he has flat out denied any chance of going on tour with Led Zeppelin…

According to Sky news 30th September:

Led Zep frontman Robert Plant has ended hopes of a new tour and album by the supergroup - by saying he definitely will not be part of it.

Robert Plant

Frontman Plant wants to pursue solo projects

It goes against fresh rumours that Plant had given the go-ahead for a series of shows and an album following the band’s successful comeback performance in London last year.

In a statement, the singer said:"Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets.

“It’s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward.”

The 60-year old, who is currently on the road promoting a solo project with country singer Alison Krauss, said he is not planning to do anything else for at least two years.

Earlier this month, he told Sky News he was uneasy about trying to do any more with Led Zep.

“I can’t emulate something that I already had down such a long time ago, to try and bring it back into focus now. Because I’m a different guy, I don’t want to become a parody,” he said.

In August, it was claimed Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Jason Bonham recorded material which may become a new Led Zeppelin project. But Robert Plant had not been performing in the sessions.

In his new statement, he hinted there may be some truth in that rumour.

He said: “I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects.”

Led Zep - best known for classics like Stairway to Heaven and Whole Lotta Love - has sold more than 300 million albums and influenced countless bands.

And most recently rumours have been circulating that Zeppelin are rehearsing with other singers.. most notably Myles Kennedy - of Washington band ALTER BRIDGE.

Talking to MuchMoreMusic, TWISTED SISTER singer Dee Snider said: “They’re saying [to Robert], ‘We’re all rehearsed, we’re ready to go. Here’s a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don’t do it, we’re going out with this kid. And he can sing the shit out of Zeppelin.’ And they’re gonna hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, ‘Okay’".

Its a bold attempt, but im confident, if Plant says no, he means no!

unfortunate though it is, we may see Led Zeppelin 2.0 in the coming 2009… Led Zeppelin, without Plant…

Is Led Zeppelin still Led Zeppelin without the Plant?

Just like was Zeppelin ever really Zeppelin without Bonham on the drums… atleast now there is a Bonham firmly seated on the kit, but losing Plant too, would be too much to take… there would only be half of Zeppelin… as much as i adore Jason bonham, he isnt John, and 3/4 of Zeppelin was as good as im gonna get… but if they tour as Led Zeppelin, without Plant… I’d be distraught, not to mention how Plant himself would feel!

More on this, after the break…

Well, what do we think?

Alot of speculation, and alot of rumours for starters!

Lets start with whats solid and fact, and out there…

The Song Remains The Same (4LP-180 Gram Vinyl Box)

THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME (EXPANDED & REMASTERED SOUNDTRACK), now available as a collectible 4-LP 180-GRAM VINYL BOX, premiered on CD in late 2007 to coincide with Led Zeppelin’s historic reunion for a concert in London benefiting the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund and honoring the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. Featuring music from the band’s classic 1976 concert film, the set captures performances recorded during their legendary three-night stand at Madison Square Garden in July of 1973. Originally released in ‘76, the soundtrack now includes six additional songs.

Available at rhino Record store….

Unfortuately us brits get screwed over on the price, being that its $49.95 or there abouts in states and about the same in pounds over here…

According to High-Def Digest, after a series of street date delays, Warner has announced a late February Blu-ray and HD DVD arrival for the LED ZEPPELIN’s concert classic “The Song Remains the Same".

Originally planned for release in November of last year (day-and-date on Blu-ray, HD DVD and standard-def), Warner subsequently delayed “The Song Remains the Same” on all formats by three weeks. That new December street date didn’t last long, however, with the studio again yanking the title from its release schedule only days before it was due to hit stores.

Well, its been a very long while since i last posted on here…

The last couple of months, besides working, christmas, and trying to get a band together, i havent really had much time to post and blog the goings on of Led Zeppelin…

So lets try and get some of the main points down.

Firstly… everyone wants to know if Led Zeppelin are going to tour…

well, Jimmy kind of squished thoe rumours of thejm playing bonnaroo, or glastonbury dead when he gave a press conference and mentioned that Robert was working on his Alison Krauss tour and that there would be nothing going on aslong as robert is putting his energy into that tour.

But he did hint at future gigs, but, it was just a hint, and there is no grounds to suspect anything other than a fans over analysis of what Jimmy said in a press conference.

Further information on Jimmy is that he was apparently spotted in Bangkok where he told fans that he was currently taking time out before heading back to london to remaster the audio from the reunion gig… for what wasnt clear, but if the audio is remastered, the film was all recorded, could make for a very nice 07 Live Zeppelin DVD and CD.

Whilst Jimmy is Busy, Roberts Views are as follows, according to contactmusic.com:

Veteran rocker ROBERT PLANT has cast further doubt on a LED ZEPPELIN reunion tour, because he’s not ready to pledge his full commitment to the group. Plant joined his fellow bandmates for a one-off tribute concert in London last December (07) and fans have been waiting for what they feel is an inevitable world tour announcement ever since. And while guitarist Jimmy Page has vowed to consider a tour after Plant concludes his string of live dates with new musical partner Alison Krauss, the singer admits going on the road with the legendary band is not one of his top priorities. He says, “I really enjoyed playing with my friends, and we are a lot closer because of it. But the responsibility, the whole deal…it’s a whole different thing to what I’m doing with Alison.”

Rumours of a worldwide LED ZEPPELIN tour following their triumphant one-off reunion gig earlier this month (Dec07) are true, according to a source close to the band.
Members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have so far refused to be drawn on any future plans to reunite.
But a source close to the rockers has confirmed they are in negotiations to put on an 18-month world tour extravaganza later next year (08).
The pal tells British newspaper the Daily Express, “It will kick off at next year’s Glastonbury after Robert Plant has finished touring with American country star Alison Krauss.
“Plant and Krauss have a new album out right now and he is committed to that for the next couple of months at least.” The rock legends have been inundated with pleas from fans to follow up their hugely successful London show on 10 December (07) with a full-on tour.

Please take this with a pinch of salt and not as gospel, as i said in my other recent post, i wont believe it until it comes from the horses mouth!
