Led Zeppelin rumours 'Are True'

Rumours of a worldwide LED ZEPPELIN tour following their triumphant one-off reunion gig earlier this month (Dec07) are true, according to a source close to the band.
Members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have so far refused to be drawn on any future plans to reunite.
But a source close to the rockers has confirmed they are in negotiations to put on an 18-month world tour extravaganza later next year (08).
The pal tells British newspaper the Daily Express, “It will kick off at next year’s Glastonbury after Robert Plant has finished touring with American country star Alison Krauss.
“Plant and Krauss have a new album out right now and he is committed to that for the next couple of months at least.” The rock legends have been inundated with pleas from fans to follow up their hugely successful London show on 10 December (07) with a full-on tour.

Rumours, Stories and more...

What Makes Led Zeppelin one of the greatest bands in the world (THE greatest in my humble opinion)?

Well, there’s no one thing that can all out say why they are so spectacular… Amazing Sound? Amazing Visuals? Amazing Songs? Well, they no doubt have all of the above, but there is something more that Zeppelin possess that makes them so sought after.

The Mystery that surrounds the band. From the start Peter Grant and Jimmy Page made the band out to be this mysterious beast that would be let out to play, AS and WHEN they deemed it fit, or beneficial to the band.

This mysterious band, made them one of the most hated band of the 70’s from the press, but even that didn’t put the band off. Equally, the fans never gave up.

Breaking records of the highest grossing gigs and most fans in venues, Zeppelin We’re the biggest thing of the 70’s! and this mysterious edge seriously did them NO Harm.

So its no surprise that nearly 30 years on from the death of Drummer, John Bonham, The band are still faithful to using the methods they used all those years ago.

Producing hype, secret rehearsals to get into shape for a one off gig that took the world by storm, and then, media silence! What better way to sell records, and get EVERYBODY in the world talking about them again? “Will they tour? wont they? whats going on? what will they do next". It is utterly fabulous to see the fans working for the band creating a hype of rumours and stories.

But of course, unless it comes from the horses mouth, assume Zeppelin will not play another gig. But nevertheless the rumours are fun.

Comment some of the rumours you may have read/heard… I’m intrigued to hear them :)

Jason Bonham talks about prospect of future Led Zeppelin Tour...

Jason Bonham, who joined Led Zeppelin on drums for their recent reunion show has been speaking about the possibility of more shows.

Bonham, the son of original Zeppelin sticksman John Bonham said that as the “new guy”, he’s unaware of any plans to tour again.

“There’s been no talks except to Jimmy (Page) and Robert (Plant) and John Paul (Jones), just to say thanks for the best Christmas present I could ask for,” Bonham told Billboard.

He went on to say: “If they do it again, of course I would love to. But that’s up to them. Only time will tell. If you’d have asked me a year ago, ‘Are they gonna do a date next year?,’ I’d have gone, ‘No way!’ So I was proved wrong once before.”

Bonham is currently the drummer with Foreigner.

As previously reported, bookers at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium are talking to Led Zeppelin about a possible show at the venue.

Youtube Recordings Taken Down by "Mistake?"

The mystery of Led Zeppelin video clips vanishing from YouTube has been solved.

No sooner has the rock giants’ comeback gigs at London’s O2 Arena, aka The Dome, ended this week than the clips started appearing.

But just as quickly YouTube’s owner Google started removing them and displaying their well-known red takedown boxes.

That is not unusual. Except in this case none of the copyright holders who might have requested this action actually

had done so. Google said Warner Music Group was responsible, which would make sense as it owns the rights to the band’s songs. But Warner had not sent the takedown requests, nor it seemed had the band, nor any of the other miscellaneous parties with a stake in the concerts, such as the venue’s owner, O2 or the promoter.

Finally a New York company confessed. GrayZone monitors copyright violations on behalf of media companies, but on this occasion it had been a little over zealous.

“Grayzone regrets that it erroneously issued takedown notices to YouTube regarding footage of Led Zeppelin’s December 10th concert,” the company said in a statement. “We acted without authorisation from the band or Warner Music Group.”

Grayzone’s Dorothy Sherman said that the company had removed around 300 clips before it realised its mistake. An easy one to make, it would seem, as the company currently has a list of 17,000 songs to be on the look out for.

OOps?!

So it seems there was no violation of terms, and that the videos were taken down unnecessarily!

Photos Retouched...

Since I got back from the gig, all i have thought about is getting content online, and getting stuff for people to look at…

this inevitably got me to put the images i took from the gig straight on the net with no post production which left some okay looking raw photos, but on the whole a very sterile looking set of photos…

I have since rectified this, and they are now looking alot more crisp and alot better… so whether you have already seen them, or maybe you havent… the pictures have been updated at www.ledzeppelinpics.com.

You may also notice that prints of the photographs are now available… i will also do some exclusive limited edition runs of my prints on ebay.

Led Zeppelin Was A Storming Success!

Led Zeppelin have played a dazzling live show for the first time in 19 years, at London’s 02 Arena.

The legendary rock group played for two hours in tribute to their former record boss Ahmet Ertegun, running through classics including Black Dog, Dazed And Confused and Stairway To Heaven.

In attendance for the show were the stars including Kate Moss- who arrived in a limo with Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie.

Noel and Liam Gallagher were also there as were American stars Marilyn Manson- with girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood- and Dave Grohl.

The Foo Fighters frontman exclusively told MTV News: “I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for Led Zep’.”

Also playing on the charity bill were Paulo Nutini and old school rockers Foreigner.

Strong rumours now suggest the group will embark on a full world tour and even an album of new material.

Well, what can I say?

The Gig was AMAZING! start to finish Led Zeppelins set was fantastic.

Its taken me 2 days to get my thoughts together after the concert just to be able to string together something more than a few lines, and I am still in shock and awe.

Led Zeppelin - Picture by ledzeppelinpics.com

Being born far too late to have boarded the Zeppelin the first time round, this could possibly be my only chance to see the band live, and if it is, then I can die happy.

I witnessed Stairway To Heaven Live, played by LED ZEPPELIN!

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven, Page with Doubleneck - Pic By ledzeppelinpics.com

The Night was just full of suprises, but in a nice way.

All musicians on stage were on top form;

Robert Plant - pic by ledzeppelinpics.com

Robert Plants Voice was on top form, he hit all the right notes, and played the crowd like a champ!

Jimmy Page - Pic By Ledzeppelinpics.com

Jimmy Page… I forgot he was playing with a broken finger!! it was that amazing… Since I’ve Been Loving you was astounding.

John Paul Jones - pic by ledzeppelinpics.com

John Paul Jones, was there ever any doubt that he wouldnt be able to pull this off really hitting all the right notes, and just being damn good.

Jason Bonham - pics by ledzeppelinpics.com

and Jason Bonham, really what can I say? Jason Bonham was immense, he filled his fathers shoes and kicked the shit out of those drums… really, on top form, a real driving force for Zeppelin, and although the thought of Dave Ghrol on Drums excited me to begin with, Jason Bonham was really, unquestionably, the best choice by far to have on those skins!
Hats Off to Jason.

The night ended with 2 encores, obviously planned, but, why the hell not? First of which being Whole Lotta Love, which was immense! theremin Solo and more…

Theremin Solo by Jimmy Page - pics by Ledzeppelinpics.com

Then after a short (about 5 minute) somewhat standing ovation from the crowd, they came back out to Rock and Roll (which I really cant wait to see the footage of the beginning, because you should be able to hear me introduce the song :) - Just as they walk out on stage and Plant is about to speak, I piped Up with the Song title “Rock and Roll” at the top of my Lungs… and then the band kicked straight into it!)

Unquestionably the best night of my life, ever!

As for the rumours of new material… I think new material would be awesome, but it is just a rumour… sure page will have riffs that he will want to work on and stuff, but the rest of the band do have other commitments… so time will tell.

As for rumours of a tour… well, if its down to percy, then i think after Monday nights performance, he may well change his mind. or alternatively they will just say Stop… put the nay sayers to bed with a sick taste in thier mouth, and have Monday Nights concert as the Ultimate Swan Song Gig.

This is my last Blog Until after Zeppelin!!

Thousands of fans are collecting their tickets for Led Zeppelin’s eagerly awaited reunion show at the 02 Arena today.

The gig, originally scheduled for November 26 was postponed after guitarist Jimmy Page fractured his finger.

Page, from Epsom, sustained the injury at the beginning of November and was not able to play guitar for three weeks.
advertisement

It is the first time the rock legends will have performed together for 19 years and tight security is in place to make sure the tickets go to fans rather than touts.

Promoter Harvey Goldsmith said: “A lot of people are picking up their tickets. They have to bring their photo ID and the method of payment they used to buy the tickets.

“Then they are given a wrist band which, once it’s locked on, won’t come off until after the show to ensure they aren’t sold on.”

O2 arena’s website crashed when 25million fans tried to register for tickets after the announcement of Led Zeppelin’s comeback in September.

The website recorded 100,000 hits a minute as people rushed to sign up for the chance to attend the gig.

More than one million people took part in a ballot for just 9,000 pairs of tickets to the show.

Other acts performing at the concert include Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini.

Profits will benefit the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund, which provides scholarships to universities in the United States, United Kingdom and Ertegun’s homeland, Turkey.

Source: wimbledonguardian

So, Yeah… theres alot of people already there and waiting for tickets…

from what i understand, it took many people just under an hour to pickup tickets early on, and the queues got longer, along with people waiting upto 5 hours or longer before the queues opened.

The o2 seems to have it under control however, by having the queues divided by surname, like, A-D, E-H, etc… which should make checking ID painless.

I am really excited, and as per the title of this blog, this will be my last one until after the gig as im travelling down to London today, and heading back up home on tuesday morning.

Should be interesting, to say the very least.

If you see me, come and say hi :)

Oh, and one last thing before i go… i dont know how as i am a guest, but i got an email from the o2 just minutes ago, to the effect of this:

O2 Email

Now this wouldnt worry me, except i am the guest of someone going to the concert, so my name isnt even in the system of people going, unless signing up for parking on this night presumes that i am going… ah well, it seems like the system is well performing :)

Everyone thats going, Have an Awesome time!

Everyone who isnt.. Stay tuned for a full review (and pictures) of what goes on… Bookmark ledzeppelinrock.com to make sure you dont miss out.

Thanks

Jimmy Page Puts Off His own Charity To Concentrate on Ahmet Tribute Gig.

LED ZEPPELIN guitarist JIMMY PAGE snubbed a fundraising event for his own charity so he could prepare for his band’s concert next week.

The rocker was due to appear at a party for his charity, Task Brazil, in London on Tuesday, but stayed at home to practise for the band’s historic one-off gig next Monday.

Amanda Smith, spokesperson for the charity and wife of Iron Maiden’s Adrian Smith, says, “Jimmy was sad to have missed the party but he is trying to focus on his gig.”

Fans feel whole lotta love as Led Zeppelin reunite

By Mike Collett-White

LONDON (Reuters) - The songs remain the same and so will the passion when fans from around the world gather to see Led Zeppelin, one of rock music’s most influential bands, reunite for a one-off gig on Monday.

Singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will be joined on stage in London by drummer Jason Bonham, son of the fourth original band member John, whose death in 1980 prompted Led Zeppelin’s break-up.

Songs like “Stairway to Heaven,” “Whole Lotta Love” and “Communication Breakdown” have helped Led Zeppelin sell 300 million albums, the bulk in their heyday of the 1970s when they could lay claim to being the world’s biggest rock group.

When Led Zeppelin announced they would play a tribute concert to the late music promoter Ahmet Ertegun, who signed them in 1968, the ticket Web site crashed and the band counted the number of people trying to log on in their millions.

One fan from Scotland entered a charity auction last month and paid $170,000 for a pair of tickets to the show.

To coincide with the charity gig, the band issued a hits album “Mothership,” a digitally remastered DVD of “The Song Remains The Same” featuring rare live footage from concerts in the 1970s and the entire back catalogue on the Internet.

Fans have had to wait longer than expected for the concert after guitarist Page broke a finger in a fall. The concert was postponed for two weeks.

Page said in late November that the digit was healing well.

“It’s going to be fine for the concert,” the 63-year-old told Reuters. “I’m able to do what I ought to be able to do, it’s just a bit bruised and a it’s bit painful still, but with this two weeks’ postponement … it’s going to be fine.”

COMEBACK ON THE CARDS?

The three surviving members of Led Zeppelin have been together on stage a handful of times since they split 27 years ago. But whereas these reunions were shambolic, Led Zeppelin are confident Monday’s 90-minute set will be different.

Page said the band would probably play one track they had never performed before in public but would not be drawn on whether a successful concert could lead to a full reunion tour.

More and more bands are reuniting to perform live rather than recording new music, including the Sex Pistols and Spice Girls in recent weeks. Tours and their spinoff merchandise are generally more profitable than selling records nowadays.

“Let’s just do the O2 (on Monday) and we’ll see what happens from there,” Page said. “I haven’t got a crystal ball here and nor have you.”

Music industry sources believe that Plant, 59, who has enjoyed the most success as a solo artist, may be the least keen on a comeback tour. Unlike Jones, 61, and Page, Plant has had little to do with promoting the December 10 gig.

Hard-Fi who?

HARD-FI have lambasted LED ZEPPELIN, SEX PISTOLS and THE POLICE, branding them “rock ‘n’ roll dinosaurs” who are only embarking on comeback tours for the money.
The British rockers, who kicked off a U.K. tour in Glasgow on Wednesday night (05Dec07), are infuriated by veterans who charge steep prices for shows.
Drummer Steve Kemp says, “I know these old bands have a huge legacy but paying over £100 for a ticket is a joke.
“If it’s a band you really love, of course you want to go and see them - buy why should you then pay so much money for it? “These rock ‘n’ roll dinosaurs are coming out for a last pay cheque. I don’t know what they’re going to do on stage that’s so special.”

Source: www.pr-inside.com/

What the f***?

where do Hard-Fi get off?

I think this is a case of jealousy gone mad… of course they would love to have 20 MILLION people apply for tickets to their gigs, but alas they must play to half empty small clubs and be unhappy with it.

Such a mediocre band slagging of legends is making news these days?

Obviously ill-informed also… The Led Zeppelin Reunion gig, aka, the Ahmet tribute gig, is just that, a tribute and charity event in order to raise funds and remember the man who signed them, its not about money at all. Do this “Hard-Fi” honestly believe that Led Zeppelin, one of the biggest selling artists of ALL TIME, are doing this for the MONEY!?

I’ve never once been interested in Hard-Fi… but not I’m interested, only to see how long until their inevitable fall to failure…

Led Zeppelin offered "hundreds of millions of dollars"!

“I would like to keep this moving,” Page said. “I’ve got things I’ve been working on for the past four years that I’m proud of. Some of the songs I’ve got ready are as good as anything I’ve done in the past. I wouldn’t necessarily save them for my solo career.”

Hedging a bit, Page added: “I don’t wanna play shows that aren’t fun any more. I’ve gone back to my philosophy of the ’70s, which was to enjoy myself.”

Jones said the group had been offered “hundreds of millions of dollars” to tour North America, “but we’ve never got anywhere near accepting.”

“Look, I don’t turn money down, but I’ve never been tempted,” Jones was quoted as saying. “I’m notoriously fickle like that. If I don’t want to do something because I won’t enjoy it, then I won’t do it.”

Led Zeppelin To Tour In 2008?

Well, there’s been no official word as of yet, so whatever you read will be a rumour, unless the band themselves confirm it, I wouldn’t believe it. Of course, the Media will try and make a mountain out of a molehill wherever they turn, as stories that everyone is interested in sell magazines, papers, and get ratings on TV.

With this in mind, what rumours are floating around?

Zeppelin to play Bonnaroo with Metallica? Well as posted earlier, this has been offciially struck off.

There was a rumour that a certain Ian Astbury sent around, and the jury is still out on that one.

The Glastonbury rumour was poo-pooed fairly early on too, but did give a good insight into what the band were thinking, as the response from Glastonbury was that Led Zeppelin wanted more money than they would give. (From what i heard, i cant recall if it was OFFICIAL or not!)

Those are the main rumours that i have noticed floating around;

The band seems divided on where they stand towards a tour;
“I would like to keep this moving,” Jimmy Page told Q music magazine’s January edition.

John Paul Jones said;
“I guess the door has been left slightly ajar. We’ll have to see how we feel about it afterwards. Everybody’s got to really want to do it.”

But Robert Plant seems set on making this the one final gig, with lining up tours next year with Alison Krauss to promote thier new album, Raising Sand.

Whats your opinion?

will Led Zeppelin Tour In 2008?

Is the Led Zeppelin Reunion 2007 going to be their ultimate finale?

Will there be any more reunions in the future?

Comment to have your say!

Bonnaroo festival deny Led Zeppelin rumours

Organisers say Metallica claims are wide of the mark too

Led Zeppelin will not headline the Bonnaroo Festival 2008, despite internet reports.

Rumours that Metallica were also set to play have been denied too.

In a statement to Billboard, organisers Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment explained: “The rumours that are out there about the Bonnaroo 2008 headliners are inaccurate.

“We’re very excited about the line-up that we’re putting together for this year’s festival. We’ll be announcing the confirmed line-up toward the end of January/beginning of February.”

The source of the Led Zeppelin/Metallica rumor was an anonymous email included last week in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz’s newsletter.

'We couldn't just play for 40 minutes' says Jimmy Page

Led Zeppelin have explained that they are planning to perform for two hours at their reunion show at London’s O2 Arena on December 10.

Guitarist Jimmy Page revealed that when the band were first contacted about playing a reunion show, they were asked to play for 40 minutes, but the band thought this was too short.

“When we were first asked to do this [reunion show], we were asked to play a 40-minute set. We soon realised we couldn’t,” he told Q magazine.

“If we go out and play ‘No Quarter’, ‘Moby Dick’ and ‘Dazed And Confused’ with all the solos, you’re already talking over an hour.”

He added: “We’ve gone from [planning to play for] 75 minutes to 90, to the best part of two hours.”

Page went on to explain that while Led Zeppelin will play for two hours, he doesn’t think he could handle playing for much longer than that.

“There’s no way I can take on playing three-and-a-half-hour sets now,” he said. “Flying against the wind and the storms, because I just don’t have that energy anymore. But I’ve still got enough in me to get through a two-hour set.”

Page Apprehensive About The Sound At The O2 Arena.

Led Zeppelin are taking tips from Elton John ahead of their reunion next week (December 10).

The band will take the stage in London at the 02 Arena, which was converted into a gig venue after it began life as the Millennium Dome.

However, after seeing several concerts there, guitarist Jimmy Page admitted he may consult the rock ‘n’ roll knight in order to get the best sound.

The Stones sounded terrible [when they played there], Prince wasn’t great, Snow Patrol was just this great monolithic noise,” Page told Q Magazine.

However John’s performance at the venue impressed the guitarist and he admitted he may well seek out advice on how he pulled it off.

“The only guy who sounded OK in there was Elton John,” explained Page. “So I may talk to his soundman.”

Led Zeppelin And Metallica To Play Bonnaroo

Apparently, Led Zeppelin will play its first U.S. show since July 24, 1977, this June at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennassee, according to an email published in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz’s newsletter. The report also says Metallica will headline the event.

Since the announcement of the December Reunion gig there has been non-stop Speculation about additional shows for Zeppelin.

A Bonnaroo spokesperson had no comment on the email. And Led Zeppelin are Keeping Schtum. But with such high demand on the ahmet gig, obviously they want to make it a special night for the people who are going, and also not let people feel bad about spending such a high pricetag on the gig, especially if a tour is coming up.

Personally, whether they tour or not, the 10th of December will be an AWESOME night.

Summer Zeppelin shows would conflict with a tour by frontman Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, which is presently being booked. Which kind of puts a big downer on the whole tour rumour, but alas, that doesnt stop the tabloids poking at the band with a big stick now does it!

As for Metallica, Bonnaroo would likely provide a launching pad for the group’s next album, expected sometime in 2008 via Elektra, which i am also looking forward to!

Robert Plant has joked that "Stairway to Heaven" should be renamed "Stairlift to Heaven."

Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) – Led Zeppelin’s singer Robert Plant has joked that the group’s comeback means their trademark song “Stairway to Heaven” should be renamed “Stairlift to Heaven.”

Fans of the U.K. rock band, who have been hoping for a reunion for three decades, are indeed in ecstasy. For Plant, 59, and his band mates, who have already sold more than 300 million albums, it could also signify a golden pension plan.

Led Zeppelin fell apart after the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980. Thanks to bone-crunching songs such as “Whole Lotta Love,” the group’s influence was once viewed as equal to that of Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Bob Dylan.

The group has new CDs, a DVD and a Web site. It put its back catalog online and joined a charity concert, featuring pals Jimmy Page on guitar and singer Robert Plant, with Bonham’s son Jason on drums and the estranged bassist, John Paul Jones.

More than a million fans entered an Internet ballot for the Dec. 10 gig at London’s 20,000-capacity O2. Tickets have been offered on EBay for as much as $10,000 each for “buy it now'’ sales. The demand may tempt Led Zeppelin to tour in 2008.

The group is “concentrating on the concert,” said its U.K. spokesman Chris Goodman of public-relations company the Outside Organisation. Still, the reunion is stirring speculation among Internet bloggers that the band is lining up venues for a tour.

Lucrative Returns

In the past year, the Who, the Stooges, the Spice Girls and the Sex Pistols have staged comebacks. Billboard reported that the Police grossed more than $171 million total and estimates that Led Zeppelin could take $3.2 million a night. Plant and Page toured in the 1990s, reporting $31.4 million revenue for 63 shows.

For those who say “Led Who?” the new CD compilation “Mothership'’ offers a great way to catch up. It has 24 songs – nearly every one that matters, as well as one that doesn’t (the cod-reggae “D’Yer Mak’er.")

“Mothership” improves on the similar “Remasters” double CD of 1992 by adding Bonham’s tour de force “When the Levee Breaks.” The remastering makes “Communication Breakdown” sound even louder, if that were possible. The demolition of the blues was revolutionary in 1969. It must have scared hippies senseless.

While the Beatles and the Stones dominated the charts, Led Zeppelin didn’t release singles. The group’s influence was subversive and ubiquitous. I’ve heard it everywhere, from a battery-powered radio blaring “Kashmir'’ in remote Peru last year to the thud of “Rock and Roll” from a party shattering the peace of a Tuscan seminary in the 1980s.

Plant Partnership

Is the comeback simply a nostalgia trip for aging heavy-metal pioneers? It’s more than that: The band plans new material and Plant has made an exceptional CD, “Raising Sand,” with U.S. country singer Alison Krauss. Their partnership does much to atone for Plant’s more questionable, sometimes misogynistic 1970s lyrics.

Led Zeppelin’s image has become unfairly skewed to focus just on the three-chord-riff bombast. Zep was loud and proud, pompous and imperious. It also had players with impeccable skills, and songs with sensitive passages such as “Over the Hills and Far Away.” Anyone wanting to sample that complexity should check out the 1976 live album “The Song Remains the Same,” featuring New York shows from 1973, released this month in an expanded form.

The DVD version intercuts the songs with fantasy videos, millionaire country estates, groupies, private jets and limos. This all fueled the anger and envy of the punk revolt of 1976.

As a time capsule, it’s priceless. Still, it’s not the best Zeppelin live album: The rival “How the West Was Won” has peerless performances and “BBC Sessions” is immaculate.

Like the ominous opening seconds of “Black Dog'’ (Page described it as “waking up the army of guitars'’), the Led Zeppelin money machine is gearing up for world domination again. Welcome back, guys.

Led Zeppelin is on Warner/Atlantic, Plant and Krauss on Rounder. Prices of the CDs are from $12.98 in the U.S. or 8.99 pounds in the U.K.

11 Days to go until the Led Zeppelin Reunion!

Excitement is rising.

Rolling Stone Magazine Excerpt

On June 10th of this year, at 2:30 in the afternoon, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin — guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones — met in a rehearsal space to play some songs. It was the first time they had been in the same room with instruments since their rough four-song set at Led Zeppelin’s 1995 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This time, the stakes were higher: to see if they had the strength, empathy and appetite to truly perform as Led Zeppelin again, in their first full concert since the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980.

The location of the rehearsal, somewhere in England, is still a zealously guarded secret. In interviews a few weeks before Led Zeppelin’s December 10th show at London’s 02 arena — a benefit tribute to the late Ahmet Ertegun, the co-founder of Atlantic Records — Page, Plant and Jones claim they can’t remember the date, what they played or even how the idea of reuniting in honor of Ertegun, a close friend and mentor during and after the band’s years on the label, came up. They all agree that playing together again, after so long, was a momentous, emotional occasion.

“It was immediate,” Page says brightly, sporting a small splint on his left pinkie, the result of a fracture suffered in a fall at home that forced a pause in rehearsals and the rescheduling of the concert, originally set for November 26th. “Everybody went in with a will to work and to enjoy it. It was a delight.”

Plant recalls “a lot of big smiles,” wearing one himself. The day was “cathartic and therapeutic. No pressure, no weight.” Jones claims he “didn’t have any doubts. Someone picked a song. We got through it. And it rocked.”

But Bonham’s son, Jason, can tell you the exact date and hour Led Zeppelin became a band again, because he was there, taking over for his dad. “They might not know what time it was,” he says of the other three, “but I know.” For him, it was “a real lump in the throat.”

“I didn’t think there would be an instant sound,” says Jason, 41, currently a member of Foreigner and now a father of two himself. “I thought, ‘It’s going to take some time.’ ” He was wrong. The band went right into the slow, dark fury of “No Quarter,” from 1973’s Houses of the Holy. “When the riff came in, there was this look that went around. It was brilliant.” Next, the four hit the desert-caravan march of “Kashmir,” from 1975’s Physical Graffiti. “Then we stopped. Jimmy said, ‘Can you give me a hug?’ And Robert shouted, ‘Yeah, sons of thunder!’ “

Finally, at the end of that day, Jason says, “They said, ‘When we get together next . . .’ ” He laughs. “I thought, ‘You mean I get another chance at this?’ “

More Personal Led Zeppelin Thoughts...

Okay, So a few days ago my Best Friend Found out he got a passcode allocated! Superb, so whats gone on since?

Well, i have kind of neglected ledzeppelinrock.com with only the odd update every so often, but i have been working on other projects.

Okay, so what new projects and “other stuff", well, i am currently compiling a website where all people that go to the gig can upload pictures and use it as a central “hub” of photographs from the reunion gig.

Its still in very early stages, but im expecting it to be ready by the time of the gig.

As for cameras in the venue, here is what the venue said about it:

Cameras will be allowed for this event as long as they are not professional cameras and are of a small-medium size.

James

So, as soon as it is ready for visitors, i will post the website on here, so keep your eyes peeled.

What else have i been upto?

well, i have plans for something that i have been wanting for ages, but not got round to it, due to money and my distaste for pain.

But i am finally getting the 4 symbols tattooed on me… in pride of place on my wrists (I always said i would never get anything on my lower arms, due to future job prospects, but with something so monumental as a Led Zeppelin reunion, it would be hard not to get it done)

So pictures will be up on wednesday night after i have it done.

with that in mind, if anyone else has Led Zeppelin Tattoos, feel free to comment, and give any experiences that you have had induced from the tattoo’s (maybe a conversation that was special to you, after being sparked by the tattoo’s, i.e. “hey thats a nice tattoo…” - later going on to getting married?! Also, feel free to post pictures of your tattoos, Im always interested to see other peoples artwork :)

Other than that, i Don’t thin alot has gone on. Just planning for the gig itself.

If you are going, dont forget to sort out ur travel/parking, as with only 2000 parking spaces, they might be tight, especially if alot of people intend on going even without tickets.

Have fun and Thanks for readin (if anyone actually did :)

Harvey Goldsmith Blog Update

Ahmet Ertegun Tribute

We have now filtered through all of those previous winners who could not make the new concert date of December 10th. As a result of this process the final passocode winners have been randomly selected on a first come first served basis, out of the original ballot.

Please note as follows, the box office for collection of tickets will be open from Sunday 9th December from 10am until 6pm and from 10am and on Monday 10th December until the concert starts.

Please note that the concert starts at 7pm and will finish at 11pm.

In addition to the Jubilee line where the last train leaves at 12.19am there is also a boat service that will take you to Westminster Pier under the Millenium Eye if you wish to stay later. This boat service will run until at least 4am.

I have read through most of your comments and my response is very simple. Throughout this process we have tried to satisfy those fans that took the trouble to register on the original ballot. It is going to be a fantastic concert and I hope you will all find that the effort that you have all made is worth it.

Led Zeppelin Deny Groupies at reunion.

NO MORE LED IN OUR PENCILS
25th November 2007

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/22096/No-more-Led-in-our-pencils/

By Rick Lyons
SORRY girls… but the last thing Led Zeppelin want is a Whole Lotta Love.
They’ve ordered staff at London’s O2 Arena to keep groupies at bay.

The band play a reunion gig there on December 10 but it appears their hellraising days are behind them.

An insider said: “The gig is one of their most important ever and they don’t want any distractions.”

“They are all married or in relationships but they understand there are plenty of women who would want to get them in the sack backstage.”

“The roadies and security staff have been warned not to let any of these women near them.”

Led Zeppelin bedded thousands of groupies between them in the Sixties and Seventies.

One incident in 1969 involving a girl and a shark – which can’t be detailed on a family website – is one of the wildest examples of rock excess.

But now singer Robert Plant, 59, Jimmy Page, 63, John Paul Jones, 61, and drummer John Bonham’s son Jason, 41, want a quieter life as they prepare for their historic reunion gig.

The insider added: “They are sounding magnificent. The show will be one of the best rock events ever.”

2008 Led Zeppelin Tour?

From NME.com

Led Zeppelin will tour in 2008, the band who have been booked as their tour support have revealed.

Ian Astbury, lead singer of The Cult, has confirmed that they have been roped in to support the recently-reformed band on a jaunt next year.

According to Billboard, during a gig in Cincinnati on November 17, Astbury said: “We’ll be back next year, because we’re opening for a band you may have heard of. The name starts with an ‘L’ and has a ‘Z’ in it.”

Hearing the announcement, a fan in the audience shouted, “Led Zeppelin.” Astbury nodded an affirmative response, and raised an arm into the air.

Led Zeppelin are yet to announce official details of any new tours.

However speaking about their reunion on December 10, guitarist Jimmy Page has revealed the band will play one of their songs live for the first time ever.

the magazine putting 2 and 2 together, but it does look pretty straight forward.

Led Zeppelin in talks for Glastonbury

LED ZEPPELIN have been in negotiations to headline next years Glastonbury Festival, it has been reported.

The rock legends have apparently been in talks with Glastonbury head Michael Eavis about the mouth-watering prospect. They have even given the Worthy Farm owner a price for performing at the June event.

Despite the early talks, NME.com claims that the negotiations have broken down after the rock outfitÂ’s representatives named too high a price, prompting Eavis to pull out.

Glastonbury, of course, has a capped fee that they are willing to pay artists — unlike many other major UK festivals.

If LED ZEPPELIN do eventually sign up, expect Glastonbury to sell out in a nanosecond.

PAGE SUGGESTS LED ZEPPELIN TOUR

From Metal Hammer:

Could the legendary guitarist be hinting at a full tour?

LED ZEPPELIN may embark on a full-scale tour after their reunion gig, according to guitarist Jimmy Page.

The band, who are gearing up for their one-off show at the O2 arena in honour of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, are considering doing a string of dates as Page thinks it would be selfish of the band to put all their energy into just one gig.

“It’s a bit silly not to because there is such massive demand,” said Jimmy, who is resting up his injured finger, to Guitar World magazine.
“It’s a bit selfish to do just one show. If that’s it, we probably shouldn’t have taken the genie out of the bottle.”

The band’s rescheduled gig at the O2 Arena will take place on December 10.

LED ZEPPELIN releases its new best-of collection, “Mothership", today (November 13).

According to The Sun, banned LED ZEPPELIN classic “Stairway To Heaven” returned to its spiritual home in London thanks to a gang of committed air guitarists. The track, which features on the rockers’ new “Mothership” greatest hits collection, has long been unwelcome on Denmark Street — home to the capitalÂ’s largest concentration of guitar shops.

Frustrated staff have consistently refused permission for wannabe axe Gods to perform the track while testing new instruments because punters regularly mangle the extraordinary solo — perfected on record by Jimmy Page.

Guitarists across the country were invited to take part in the performance.

Embarassingly however, just one intrepid guitar-slinger took his life into his own hands by setting up shop on the venerable thoroughfare in order to blast the song out once more.

More happily scores of supportive passers-by lent moral support to the hapless strummer by joining in on air guitar.

Page on the mend...

From the bbc

Musician Jimmy Page has said the broken finger that led Led Zeppelin’s reunion gig to be put back to 10 December will take “a little while to heal".
The guitarist, named a “living legend” at the Classic Rock awards, revealed he had fractured the little finger of his left hand in a fall in his garden.

“It’s a nuisance because it’s really needed,” he told the BBC, adding that the damage was “not permanent".

“I’ve broken fingers before, a lot worse than this,” he told reporters.

Iconic rock group Led Zeppelin are due to reform for one night only at tribute concert in London in honour of late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

Page said at Monday night’s awards the band would be playing “a lot of the songs that people would want to hear".

“We just got together and started playing and it started to take on its own shape.”

Acute laryngitis

At the end of the awards, the rock veteran was presented with a vintage Gibson Les Paul guitar by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

Other honourees included rock stalwarts Status Quo, Jeff Wayne and the late Mick Ronson.

Singer Meat Loaf, however, was not present to collect a classic album award.

The Bat Out of Hell star is recovering from a bout of acute laryngitis that led him to cancel two concerts in his current UK tour.

His daughter, Pearl Aday, picked up the honour on his behalf .

Guests at the ceremony included Alice Cooper, Joan Jett, Lemmy from Motorhead and Fish from Marillion.

amazing news!!!

FROM METAL HAMMER!!!!

In a shocking turn of events, The Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert on November 26th at which Led Zeppelin were due to play alongside Bill Wyman, the Rhythm Kings, Paul Rogers, Paolo Nutini, and Foreigner has been postponed until December 10th due to Jimmy Page fracturing his finger.

The injury was sustained over the past weekend, and a specialist treating Mr. Page has stated that, “it is my opinion that with proper rest and treatment, he will be ready to resume rehearsing in three weeks and will be able to perform on December 10.”

Jimmy Page added, “I am disappointed that we are forced to postpone the concert by two weeks. However, Led Zeppelin have always set very high standards for ourselves, and we feel that this postponement will enable my injury to properly heal, and permit us to perform at the level that both the band and our fans have always been accustomed to.”

No details have been released about the cause of injury.

According to the press release, all tickets for the November 26th show will be valid for the rescheduled date.

Any customers who are unable to attend the rescheduled concert on the 10th December should apply for a full refund of the ticket purchase prior to midday (UK time) on November 14th 2007. Any tickets made available as a result of refunds will be offered to ballot winners selected at random from original registrations after the 15th November 2007.

Please refer to www.ahmettribute.com for information on how to obtain a refund and for further information.

Rob plant Nervous about Reunion Tribute Gig?

Led Zeppelin member Robert Plant recently stated that he is so “overwhelmed” by the legendary band’s upcoming reunion concert he’s praying he’ll be able to enjoy the experience.

The English rock singer also adds that “The anticipation is incredibly overwhelming for me. And all I want to do is have some fun.”

Robert Plant and country singer Alison Krauss released their first collaboration studio album together entitled ‘Raising Sand’ on October 23, 2007.

On November 26, 2007 Robert Plant along with the other members of Led Zeppelin will reunite for one performance at London’s O2 Arena. The benefits concert is a tribute to the late Atlantic Records co founder Ahmet Ertegün.

Other artists that are scheduled to perform include Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman, the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner, and Paolo Nutini

Im sorry, but i just watched this, and the first 2 minutes is a tribute band trying to get advertisement using whats happened as an “in". utter rubbish, as for getting tickets off a friend… utter bollocks. the guys whining probably because he bought a passcode from fleabay.

Then harvey says his peace… fuckin right on from the start, tells it how it is.

Then the news woman adds “he was talking about ebay” which is bollocks… pure and simple!

he was talking about people who USE ebay to sell them, not ebay itself…

to have a meet with someone from ebay to discuss where ebay stands is utter rubbish and the researchers should be shot!

Setlist Details Released?

From Guitar World;

“According to Bonham, the two hour concert will be completely electric; it will most likely kick off with Good Times Bad Times (the first song on Zeppelin’s first album); and it will feature such anthems as Dazed and Confused, Kashmir, and Stairway to Heaven”

Speculation, hype, whatever, these are the songs that should be played regardless!

Comment on Harvey's Blog...

Just got off the phone to ticketmaster, sounds hopeful…

The lady I spoke to was sympathetic, and was going to transfer me to her supervisor, however her supervisor was extremely busy, so I spoke to the same lady again. She did tell me that her supervisor had said they had received an email today from the promoter/organiser/management (she wasn’t sure) which basically stated that no accounts (ie tickets) would in fact be canceled!! I am of course taking this with a grain of salt but she seemed fairly certain that I would be ok - I asked repeatedly (in a tad of shock) if it really stated that none would be canceled and she believed it to be correct! Someone else care to call and ask a similar question and see if we get as positive result?

Obviously not getting my hopes too high but a glimmer of hope perhaps?

I’d also like to take his opportunity to thank Harvey for making this so complicated and stressful, and that I really appreciate this wall of silence. I’ve spent well over 10 hours on this over yesterday and today, and must admit I’m really not enjoying myself. Fantastic way to treat fans.

Cheers!

Now… If this post on Harvey’s blog is true, then my chances have been slashed, as have many other peoples.
This poster seems to have made alot of posts about how angry he is at Harvey and how he has tried to fight his case after breaking the rules how he should keep his tickets… now he seems to be hopeful more than ever because someone at Ticketmaster “apparently” said this to him.

My view is, this guy cheated. like many other people, and has tried to justify his actions every step of the way.

If Harvey has said that no tickets will be cancelled, then all my hope has failed… out of all the tickets that went out… I would imagine there leaves less than 1000 who genuinely cannot go to the concert and have let their tickets lapse.

IF this happens, the touts have WON! and will no doubt be free to sell the next batch of tickets that end up in their hands! (if they got so many last time they will likely get some on the second ballot too!). and make more money, leave more fans out of pocket and take the chances from the people in the ballot who actually care about the concert.

I hope Harvey has not made his mind up in this direction, for the good of the fans who didn’t try to abuse the system and try to cheat their way to the gig.

Play the Led Zeppelin Afterparty.... Apparently...

PLAY THE LED ZEPPELIN AFTER PARTY
http://www.big106.com/pages/zeppelin.html
Wednesday 09-26-2007 11:13am ET

“Led Zeppelin is looking for unsigned bands to play the after-party of their November 26th reunion show in London. If you’re interested, upload a video of your band to www.ziddio.com with a note explaining why you should get the job. The selected bands will be introduced by the members of Zeppelin in attendance at the party, and must play one Zeppelin song and one of their own at the party.”

I’m a little sceptical about this to be honest, BUT, sources say its for real…

I just cant imagine Zeppelin wanting to be around unsigned bands playing (butchering?) their songs!

Pete Townshend Pulls Out Of Led Zeppelin Reunion

Apparently, According to Johnny Walkers BBC Radio 2 Show, Pete Townshend has pulled out of the Led Zeppelin Reunion as a support.

He said he had interviewed Pete Townshend and this would be aired on November 4th. During the conversation Pete Townshend had said he’s pulled out of the Led Zeppelin Reunion show, but would love to do a joint Who/Led Zeppelin tour.

If anyone’s interested in hearing that interview, if you go to the BBC radio 2 website after November 4th, then go to the “listen again” section, choose Johnny Walker, and you can listen to his last show.

Harvey Goldsmith wishes eBay would "Drop Dead and Die"...

Rosie Swash
Monday October 8, 2007
Guardian Unlimited

Promoter Harvey Goldsmith has branded eBay the “biggest rip-off merchants in the world” after tickets to the forthcoming Led Zeppelin gig appeared for sale on the online auction website. Goldsmith, who helped persuade the band to reunite for a one-off show this November, told Kerrang! Radio yesterday: “I wish eBay would drop dead and die… I have begged them to take [the tickets] off and they have basically told us to fuck off. So I will do everything I possibly can to ruin their lives

CAPTCHA could've cut down the bogus registrations...

Of course, being a “Geek", I had noticed originally that the page where registration was taking place had no means of checking, or at least trying to prevent whom was human and who was a machine filling in the form.

Using a piece of code, or software called CAPTCHA a lot of the script generated registrations could have been avoided, whereby the career touts and the amateurs would use scripts to register time after time to better their odds, they would have had to do it manually, which wouldn’t have stopped these people, but it would have slowed them down quite considerably.

Of course, this system was based on good will, and as we have seen where there is good will, there are people who will abuse it.

There are also the people who will not take into account things that can go wrong.

Second Ballot coming soon...

From what I gather down at the Watering Hole:

The second draw for tickets will take place this coming Friday.

Winners will be notified at the beginning of next week (Mon/Tues/Wed). I can’t confirm the exact day yet but I’m sure the important people will soon enough.

Once again, good luck!!

Oh Dear...

It seems my site for information on the Led Zeppelin Reunion, (this one) Has been neglected, and i thought it would be fine, but it seems that id set it to archive after only 2 days, which means, well for the past 2 days the website has been EMPTY.

NO NEWS ABOUT THE REUNION, AT ALL.

DOH!

I will get busy in a bit and get some more information up so anyone that has been coming to the website can catch up too!

I hate to think how many people have turned up to an empty looking website recently :(

Permalink Categories: Music   English (UK)

Oh, the Neglect :(

I seem to have neglected the website for the past couple of days.

I have been working fairly non-stop since Friday and not had much chance to get on the internet, so right now I’m trying to catch up myself on what’s gone on in the world of Zeppelin since I have been gone.

it seems Harvey goldsmith added a new blog to his website and cleared up even more why the rules were amended and what happened…

I am fully aware that there seems to be concerns about people who became winners in the ballot and then decided to use somebody else’s credit card to pay for the ticket.
However, I am convinced that those who are bleating the loudest seem to be protesting too much for other reasons.
I was obviously aware that there would be huge demand for tickets to this event. This is the reason why we devised the ballot system and therefore registration of your name.
On this basis we presumed that those that registered wanted to actually see the show. It is painfully obvious that if the ticket is not transferable then the method of obtaining the ticket is not transferable either.
The reason why there is now confusion amongst the few is simply because a number of people who were lucky enough to be winners in the ballot decided to capitalise on their winnings.
We take a very dim view of this as we want genuine fans to come to the concert. I would have thought that if you were a genuine fan and were lucky enough to win you would have been overjoyed at the opportunity and played the game and paid for your tickets as have the vast majority of winners.
Having looked at eBay, StubHub, viagogo and various other touting websites, it has become obvious that a number of you only joined this ballot for commercial gain. It also appears to me that those who have used this for commercial gain are the ones who are protesting the most.
Of course there are a few people who genuinely want to come but may not have had a suitable credit card to pay for them. The answer to those people is very simple; if you are GENUINE you will contact us and give us a justified explanation.

FOR CLARITY THE SYSTEM WORKS AS FOLLOWS:

1) You registered for the ballot
2) The ballot chose YOU as a winner and issued YOU with a pass code
3) You immediately pay for your 2 tickets with YOUR credit card

HOW TO REDEEM YOUR TICKET:

1) Turn up to the O2 arena on either Sunday 25th November between 10am and 6 pm or Monday 26th November from 10am
2) Bring photo id to prove who you are
3) Bring the credit card that you paid for the tickets with you
4) Bring the person with you who is your guest
5) Receive the ticket and ENJOY THE SHOW!

This is will work for the vast majority of people who genuinely would like to see the concert and is simple and effective.

Now for the small minority, if you think that you can beat the system by buying from eBay or any other website you are wrong, you will NOT be allowed in to the concert and your application for tickets will be cancelled within the next 14 days.
Those cancelled applications will then be offered out to further lucky, genuine winners who registered in the ballot and would like to come to the concert.
Finally for the very few genuine fans that have other problems you will no doubt contact us and plead your case.

I have no interest in supporting parasite businesses who prevent fans from supporting their artists by the increased price of the tickets and who ultimately put nothing whatsoever back into our business to support it.

More to come soon…

Ahmet Tribute Email...

I suspect this email is what has been sent to the original winners of the ballot.

Im not sure how accurate it is, but if it is kosher then i expect alot of people are going to want their money back for being done up like a kipper by touts / scalpers:

Ticketmaster site stops selling tickets...

It seems that the Ticketmaster site has stopped selling tickets to the Led Zeppelin Concert.

This means either one of two things.

The Venue is sold out (which judging by the amount of people who havent touted their tickets who couldn’t go is looking unlikely)

or it means the 72 hours are up and they are using time now to cross reference tickets against the rules policy that was put into place on the 2nd of October.

Second ballot could be under way within the next 24 hours…

Heres to hoping!

Permalink Categories: Music   English (US)

Second Draw from the hat anyone?

Its what I’m hoping for…

Well, from reading the FAQ’s, it states that people have 72 hours to buy the tickets from the passcode they obtained, or the tickets will be added to a second draw.

well today is the day the 72 hours are up.

I wonder how many tickets they had left over?
I wonder if they ACTUALLY cancelled the tickets they said they would
I wonder what time they will email out the new lucky winners?

All very valid questions for Harvey Goldsmith, but i doubt he would answer many, if any of them.

Only time will tell now kids!

I have my fingers crossed!

Led Zeppelin Reunion Summary.

During the past 2 days, in the world of Led Zeppelin, all hell has broken loose.

I say this because, on October 1st The lucky winners to the lottery-style ballot were sent out. Within hours some of those tickets hit the internet marketplaces such as eBay, and other dedicated on-line ticket stores.

Despite this being immoral (trying to profit from a charity event) - before the slots were even allocated, Harvey Goldsmith (Promoter of the event) had warned that if tickets did hit eBay, those people who bought those tickets would not get into the event. Granted, it was not tickets people were selling, but passcodes to use the Ticketmaster website in order to buy tickets.

On the 2nd October, the Zeppelin world seemed divided by people who wanted tickets, and people who wanted to wait until the second ballot in the hope that some tickets would remain. My opinion throughout the whole ordeal, was to stop the touts from selling and let their 72 hours that they have to use the passcodes Lapse. Other people however had other ideas.

A few people bought tickets on eBay and other unscrupulous websites, rumoured that one person spent £4000, i know of a few off led zeppelin forums that spend just shy of a thousand pounds.

So Harvey Goldsmith, Intent on doing the loyal fans who didnt want to line the pockets of these oxygen-thieves selling the tickets, released a press statement via his website ( www.harveygoldmith.com ) which stated:

The random ticket selection has taken place and successful applicants have been notified that they can now purchase their tickets.

Each ticket holder has an individual pass code that has been issued by Ticket Master, that pass code and the name of the applicant are married together.

Consequently if the pass code is sold on to another party those tickets will be invalid.

Unfortunately a small number of unscrupulous people have decided to take advantage of the fact that they had been awarded the opportunity to purchase tickets.

It is even more unfortunate that eBay and a number of ticket scalping sites have chosen to take advantage of this situation.

Please note that unless the ticket, the code and correct identification match, those tickets will be invalid.

Anyone who chooses to purchase tickets in this way will lose their money!

We urge all fans who wish to come to the concert to sit tight; as the tickets are cancelled they will be re issued at the next random selection of registrations.

Which basically means, that if you were not the registrant on the ballot (i.e. the registrant name to the passcode is not yours) then you would not get in. Even if you have already bought tickets.

This means, no family members could register for you, if they are not attending, no friends could “gift” the passcode to you, and you cannot buy and use passcodes from touts.

FANTASTIC… having not got a ticket in the first round. all these cancellations (as I would estimate over half the people either bought or used a friends passcode that they may have asked to be registered for) means that the second round there will be more tickets to go out than was initially expected, and well, I have more chance, as I tick ALL the boxes.

It seems you have to register for yourself, at your own address. Check.
You must have a credit/debit card which you will use for the Ticketmaster transaction with your name on it, which you can take to the venue on the day of the gig. Check.
You need a photo ID. Check.

It seems all the people who registered as many people, and locations they could think of, have wasted their time.

The FAQ’s also received an update around 4 ‘o’ clock on the second, as the first 4/5 question/answers were added. They read as follows:

1. I didn’t win but I have obtained a passcode that does not belong to me can I use it?

All bookings will be cross checked against the details of the registration that was issued the passcode and if the details do not match then the booking will be cancelled and the tickets returned to the ballot.

2. My friend registered for me / my friend won but he doesn’t have a credit card / my friend wants me to have their tickets is that ok?

No, only the winners of the public ballot can purchase the tickets as this is the only way to ensure that all fans have an equal and fair chance of obtaining tickets.

3. What will happen to the unused passcode?

It will become invalid

4. What happens to any remaining unsold tickets?

They will be offered out by random selection from the remaining applicants who registered.

5. When will the second round of tickets be offered?

Once the first round of winning applicants have completed their purchases and all invalid orders have been cancelled.

These FAQ’s tie in nicely with what Harvey was saying earlier in the day.

An email from The O2 about passcodes...

If someone is selling the passcode there is a good chance it will be
discovered and cancelled, or that you will have trouble using the
passcode to buy tickets. Ticket buyers need to provide photo ID and this
will not match up with the name on the record if you buy your code off

I wouldn’t do it, it’s a lot of money to risk.

What Did I Tell You?

Someone on Led-Zeppelin.com’s messageboard posted the following:

I called Harvey’s office and they have confirmed that when you go to get your tickets, your code will bring up the name registered in the ballot. And if that name is not on a picture I.D (Don’t bother with fakes…It has to be a passport e.t.c) then it’s tough luck. In other words, if you didn’t get the email…you’re not going. The codes on ebay might work, but they will not get you into the gig.

DONT BUY PASSCODES… it wont work!

wait until the second ballot!

Permalink Categories: Music   English (US)

PLEASE DONT BUY PASSCODES!!!

If enough people Do NOT buy passcodes in the next 72 hours, then their passcodes will LAPSE and the passcodes will be RE-ALLOCATED… which means you have more chance at getting a passcode without spending stupid amounts of money, from a dubious source (such as ebay) and possibly getting ripped off by the same person selling the same code over and over (the codes work once only!!).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t buy these peoples passcodes, as if they don’t want to go to the gig they shouldn’t have registered, the scum, touts!

If they don’t sell them, they will likely not use them as it is nigh on impossible to sell the actual tickets/wristbands to get into this gig. so let them waste their ebay fees!

Real Zeppelin fans deserved these tickets, not the fucking tout wankers that would sooner try and make money off Zeppelin fans by selling anything they can from the email on ebay!

Please take this in and don’t give in to the temptation of buying passcodes from ebay!

Interpretation of terms and conditions.

From what it seem, it is almost impossible to “tout” your tickets.

To collect tickets, each original purchaser and theperson accompanying them to the show must be present in order to pick up the tickets and wristbands. NO exceptions

so lets face it, if you need to do that, touts can ONLY sell the passcode, and if its a half decent system, then the passcode will be linked to the person that registered, which means peoplewho registered multiple times with different names, may not be able to get the tickets if they are successful with a name which does not corrospond, which ALSO means, that alot of tickets could be re-allocated in 72 hours!

touts can f–k off in my opinion… along with the people buying to sell on later.

Hopefully, REAL led zeppelin fans will get the tickets.

Led Zeppelin Tickets?

Well, 1st October is here. and, well, I have had no email. Not surprising really.

But have the tickets been sent out yet? have any notifications left yet. I would imagine it would be all over the news as soon as people started receiving them, but thus far I have seen nothing in the news.

Let me know if you hear anything about tickets.

Of course… my interpretation is that the people that get notifications have a few days to buy tickets, and if they don’t buy, then the tickets get re-allocated, so 1st October could well be the first day leading to possible few tries at giving out all notifications to people who will actually buy them.

Personally if I got the chance to buy tickets, then within a minute of seeing the email, I would sign up for the tickets, but some people (especially the ones over the pond from the UK) who might have liked tickets and entered but not quite have the funds/resources to get over to the UK for the concert might have to forfeit the chance, and hopefully if this happens and I haven’t received a ticket, then it will come to me.

The chance is there though.

"There will be no Led Zeppelin Tour" - apparently

How crap! Ofcourse we can still hope after the gig they change thier mind, but apparently, Robert Plant has ruled out the chances of a Led Zeppelin Tour following the one-off gig.

From Gigwise.com:

It had been hoped that the band would extended their one-off show at London’s O2 Arena on November 26th to allow more people to see the veteran rockers make their comeback.

Plant has now definitely ruled out the prospect of more dates, however, saying: “We need to do one last great show, because we’ve done some shows and they’ve been crap.”

The frontman also told the Daily Express that he’s planning to take it easy after the tribute show for Ahmet Ertegun.

“I know I’m getting on. When I do come back from touring I’m shocked to find a lot of my mates tend to be going to bed far too early and that means I should probably be doing the same. Maybe I should stop having a good time and get old,” the singer confessed.

Almost twenty million people applied for tickets to the band’s show in London. Successful applicants will be notified by October 1st.

Dave Grohl Speaks about the Led Zeppelin reunion.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has spoken of his desire to play drums for the newly reformed Led Zeppelin.

The star explained to NME.com that he is “at their beck and call,” should they want to get in touch about performing with him.

“Ah, if I got that call, what the f–k do you think I’d be saying?” Grohl said. “I’d say, ‘Hey [Foo Fighters bandmates] Chris and Taylor, let’s take a little break for a few days, I’ll see ya later!’ But I don’t expect that to happen.”

Grohl explained that, although getting to play with Led Zeppelin would be unlikely, he would at least be trying to get into the band’s forthcoming gig at London’s O2 Arena on November 26.

He also acknowledged the contribution of Jason Bonham, son of original Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, who would perform with the band at the gig.

“Jason should be the one,” he said. “Everyone knows that. He’s a f–king phenomenal drummer.”

My opinion on this news is simple. Although Jason is flesh and blood of John Bonham. Dave Grohl is, in my opinion (and many other peoples) The best rock drummer of this decade!

I would like to see Dave play with Zeppelin, as it would bring a whole new dimension to the Zeppelin sound. not that Jason wouldnt, but Jason has been there and done it before. Grohl would be my number one candidate to play the gig, or atleast if there are any other gigs.

Bring in Grohl.

My oh My...

It seems i have been neglecting the website just a tad.

well, it seems not alot else is happening at the moment. its that tense period between applying for tickets, and waiting to see if you are one of the “lucky ones".

There are still rumours flying around about a belfast show, and well, not alot else.

I’d consider this time period to be the calm before the storm.

As soon as October 1st comes around, the internet will be a hive of excitement as those who get thier tickets shout and rejoice about the fact, and those that dont get tickets scream and shout that they didnt get tickets.

either way, sounds like it could be fun.

More Gigs on the Horizon?

Well, after a small search it seems that people are rumouring that Robert Plant is trying to lead the band to do more consequent gigs after the 02 reunion.

From The Belfast Telegraph:

Singer Robert Plant wants to bring legendary rockers Led Zeppelin back to Belfast - where the band first played their classic hit Stairway to Heaven in the spring of 1971.

The band, wich is playing a one-off gig in London in tribute to its mentor - Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun - will take advantage of the reunion to plan a trip to the Ulster Hall where fans first heard Stairway to Heaven 36 years ago.

Led Zeppelin, whose other big hits included Whole Lotta Love and The Immigrant Song, were in town in ‘71 for the late Jim Aiken when they first played Stairway to Heaven. It was the reaction here that persuaded them to record it for an album when they returned to London.

Plant is eager to persuade the other originals, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, to step back in time with him. The band split in 1980 after the tragic death of John Bonham, whose son Jason will take over on drums.

Plant knows that, on the 25th anniversary of the Stairway to Heaven date in March 1996, there was a reunion of fans at the Ulster Hall which attracted a huge crowd of the Zeppelin faithful.

“Zeppelin have always been favourites in Belfast since that memorable night in ‘71,” said U105 presenter Ivan Martin. “And a return to Belfast for the band all these years later would be a smash hit. Aiken Promotions are the natural people to help Robert Plant make it happen.”

It has even been suggested that, when the Ulster Hall reopens in November 2008 after refurbishment, a Led Zeppelin concert would be the natural curtain-raiser. Stairway to Heaven is one of the best-known rock anthems ever, although it was never released as a single. It was written by Plant (lyrics) and Page (melody) and there are cover versions by everyone from Dolly Parton to Rolf Harris.

Led Zeppelin’s gig at the O2 Arena in London marks their first time together in 19 years.

What do you think?

Stairway in Belfast, or Dreamers in the Newsroom?

Deadline extended?

According to Rolling Stone the deadline for getting registered into the “lottery” for tickets has been extended until Wednesday, September 17th.

Thier figures state that so far, over 25 million people filled out ballots with hopes of securing one of the 20,000 £125 tickets for the November 26th show.

Lets take a second to recap figures:

There are 20,000 tickets available
£125 each
25 million applicants (so far)
2 tickets available per applicant

So there are going to be

49,980,000+ dissapointed fans :(

Of those who do get tickets thier money (totalling £250,000) will go to the Ahmat Ertegun Education Fund.

A fun date methinks.

So Why the Reunion?

Well According to NME.COM this is why:

Led Zeppelin have spoken about why they are playing their first gig in 19 years this November.

The band will play the O2 Arena in London on November 26.

The show is a tribute for Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

Speaking at the press conference it was explained that the reunion came about after the band were contacted by the late record mogul’s wife.

Promoter Harvey Goldsmith explained that she and him had written the band an “emotive letter” asking them to play.

Despite initially expressing doubts, the band rehearsed in June and immediately decided to play a full, two-hour gig rather than a proposed half-hour set.

Paying tribute to Ertegun, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant declared: “During the Zeppelin years, Ahmet Ertegun was a major foundation of solidarity and accord. For us he was and remained a close friend and conspirator - this performance stands alone as our tribute to the work and the life of our long standing friend.”

Who Knew after all this time all it would take was an emotive letter, and getting them into the same room to jam!

well, maybe not, maybe Ahmet Ertegun’s passing away had something to do with it.

but still. its been a long time coming. Lets hope it stands up to the standards held for Zeppelin.

Half Hour Set?

Just heard on the radio that it was planned for Led Zeppelin to only do a 30 minute set at the gig, but they have enjoyed practising together so much that they are now to do a 2 hour set.

I was gob smacked that they even entertained the idea of only doing a 30 minute show to be honest. £125 and only 30 mins of seeing the band that you are there for. I acknowledge that it is for charity, but 30 minutes would be taking the Michael just a little bit in my opinion.

Suffice to say from what I heard on the radio, a recording of one of the members saying how they were enjoying the jamming together that they will do a longer set of 2 hours.

Then again, this isn’t taking into account that the 3 remaining members are not getting any younger… will they be able to re-capture the magic, and if so, for how long?

could they pull off a 2 hour set without it becoming very messy to watch? would they still have the energy to perform well for so long? we all know Led Zeppelin are known for their stage shows and the movement and energy on stage. will this be something to look forward to?

only time will tell.

20 Million People Applied...

From what I hear, 20 million people have registered thus far to get tickets for the Led Zeppelin gig at the o2 arena. No big surprise really, considering people all over the globe would travel to see this one-off gig!

so that kinda makes odds up to now of getting tickets 1000/1. and there’s still more time for people to register.

a scary thought perhaps.

Also, Any tickets that appear on ebay will be disregarded and not allowed into the gig, they will be CANCELLED. So don’t even bother.

if you don’t want to go, then don’t register, there’s plenty of other people after tickets who would do anything to go, don’t exploit it. after all, it is for charity lest we forget.

Kerrang!

Just been listening to Kerrang! Radio in the car on the way home, and it seems like the broadcasters are a bit clueless, so just to clear things up;

The Ahmat Website IS ONLINE! it just keeps falling over due to the demand of people trying to get onto it, it does work, but i was trying for 45 minutes to get registered for the gig, so if you want to get registered, then keep trying, or leave it a day or 2 for the rush to calm down.

The Public Ballot ends on OCTOBER 1st, which is when the lucky people will get notified that they can purchase tickets. so theres no imminent rush just yet to get registered, but make sure you do it within the week… keep trying at different times of the day!

I got my confirmation email and it reads:

Dear XXX XXX,

Thank you for registering for Ahmet Tribute tickets.

If successful you will be contacted by email by the 1st October and will be given information on how to purchase at this time.

For all other information please see FAQ’s provided on our website http://www.ahmettribute.com.

Thank you

Obviously with such high demand though the FAQ’s wont be accessible, but it will die down (eventually).

So yes, the website is online, but because of demand it looks like it is none exsistant.

Lucky fans will find out on October the 1st whether or not they are successful or not.

Lets hope I am one of the successful ones! Could be a life changing experience for anyone that sees it.

Do the BBC know something the world doesnt?

I’m sitting here, scouring the internet for more updates about the rumoured gig, and i notice the BBC at 14:33pm updated thier news about Zeppelin, stating that “Singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones, will reunite for the one-off show at the O2 arena in London on 26 November.”

So what do they know already?

I thought that the press conference was at 4pm, not 2:30pm. How are they so sure that it “will” be held?

Apparently, “Tickets will be allocated by public ballot, and cost £125.", Also according to the BBC.

Where are they getting thier information? is it true? £125 per ticket?

I know for sure i would pay it, but where did they get that figure? they list no source for where they are getting thier information.

They also list Pete Townshend and Bill Wyman as support acts for the night.

More info to come shortly…

So Todays The Press Conference.

So Today is the day Led Zeppelin have called the press conference. So, what do we expect?

Considering that possibly every year since the demise of drummer John Bonham, people have speculated of a tour, or reunion gig. Could this be just another rumour that got everyone’s backs up, and thus causing publicity for the forthcoming releases in November previously stated?

Well, Possibly.

At first I was very excited to hear the news about the band possibly getting back together for a gig at the O2 arena, but maybe, its all an elaborate plot to get more sales of the releases coming up, create a big hype, chart again, and lead the public on for another year. Of course, it isn’t Led Zeppelin leading people on, its the media hyping everything.

Certain sources mention Robert Plant confirming a one-off reunion gig, but maybe they are taking something that RP said, and taking it out of context? Its been known many times before, and everyone knows the media love a good story, as they will get readers.

Think of how many Led Zeppelin fans there are in the world which would love the rumours to come to fruition, stories like this, sell magazines, it sells papers, and it makes for great TV. But ultimately its all based on hearsay.

I eagerly await the press conference later today, but ultimately, I can see it will just be regarding the releases in November. I hope it is for a reunion, although as previously stated, even if it went ahead, I doubt I’d get a ticket, but I really do hope they hit the stage again.

Talk of a Led Zeppelin reunion just refuses to go away.

Talk of a Led Zeppelin reunion just refuses to go away.

Billboard reported in July that the band may get together for a proposed tribute to the late producer/record mogul Ahmet Ertegun at the O2 in London in November (Billboard, Aug. 4).

Now on ledzeppelin.com the date 11.13.07 mysteriously appears with the familiar Zep symbols. And several people saw the band touring the O2 during Prince’s recent stand at the new 20,000-seat London arena. A press conference next Wednesday (Sept. 12) in London may clear everything up.

There has been talk that tour producers AEG Live and Michael Cohl’s CPI (Rolling Stones, Genesis, Barbra Streisand) have put in offers on a Zep tour featuring founding members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones with late drummer John “Bonzo” Bonham’s son Jason on drums. But it is also well-known in the industry that standing offers have been on the table for a Led Zeppelin tour for more than a decade.

Nov. 13 also has another significance: it’s the drop date of a new Atlantic/Rhino two-disc, 24-track best-of set, “Mothership.” Additionally, a deluxe reissue of the soundtrack to the 1976 concert film “The Song Remains the Same” with previously unreleased material and a new DVD edition of that movie will arrive Nov. 20 via Atlantic/Rhino and Warner Home Video, respectively.
